CALL FOR DIRECTORS – 5th Annual Plain Site Theatre Festival
SUBMISSIONS FOR CONSIDERATION WILL BE ACCEPTED NO LATER THAN 11:59PM ON JULY 31ST, 2023
The Plain Site Theatre Festival, curated by Alex Rioux and run by Black Box Productions in partnership with Solo Chicken Productions, is proud to return once again to the St. Thomas University campus to present new 2SLGBTQIA+ centered plays with the aim of fostering queer visibility in our arts scene and on our campus.
For the 5th annual Plain Site Theatre Festival, we are calling New Brunswick-based 2SLGBTQIA+ directors and theatre artists to direct our mainstage productions for the festival, which are mounted in November 2023, with the production week occurring from November 12th-18th, 2023. All scripts being mounted as mainstage productions have a maximum of three actors for all roles and were developed as workshopped readings in the 4th Annual Plain Site Theatre Festival, in November 2022. Directors must be available from September to November 2023 for casting and rehearsals prior to the public presentation on the St. Thomas University campus.
The artistic practice and belief of directors submitting for consideration must align with the Plain Site Theatre Festival mandate (which is included in this call below). Plain Site Theatre Festival will provide honorariums for the work of directors selected for this year’s festival. Directors responding to this call should indicate if they are willing to direct more than one production at the festival. If you have any questions about the festival or this call for directors, please reach out to Alex Rioux at pstfdirector@gmail.com.
HOW TO SUBMIT
